As a strong leading man, Kevin Sorbo brings a refreshing cadence to Hollywood where he is a familiar face and an accomplished actor. He was born in Mound, Minnesota, on September 24, 1958. His mother worked as a nurse and his father taught junior high school, laying the groundwork for Kevin’s exceptional work ethic. Although he excelled in sports, Kevin’s true passion was to be an actor. His modeling work paid for university tuition while he studied marketing and advertising.
In 1993, Kevin was cast as the lead role of Hercules in a series of TV films that would lay the groundwork for the immensely popular series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Kevin also guest-starred as Hercules in episodes of the successful spin-off series Xena: Warrior Princess as well as providing his voice to the animated Hercules films. His first leading film role was in 1997 in the fantasy action feature Kull the Conqueror. Sorbo played in the independent film, "What If…" which was nominated for Best Family Movie of the Year 2011 by the Movie Guide Awards. Sorbo was nominated and received the Movie Guide Award for Most Inspirational Performance of the year. In 2011, Kevin starred with Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt in the movie "Soul Surfer", the inspiring true story of Bethany Hamilton who lost her left arm in a shark attack while surfing. For this role, Kevin was nominated for a Grace Award. Other movies include "A Christmas Angel," Abel’s Field" and "Shadow of the Mesa."
In 2012, Kevin released his memoir True Strength, which details his near death experience at the end of season 5 on Hercules. The book recounts how he suffered three strokes and fought to regain his life. For his work in bringing stroke awareness to an international level, Kevin received awards from the American Brain Foundation and the American Academy of Neurology.
The 2014 movie "God’s Not Dead" starred Kevin as Professor Radisson, a college philosophy professor whose curriculum is challenged by a student who believes that God exists. Currently, Kevin is involved as an actor and/or producer in several movies, including "Boone the Bounty Hunter", "Single in South Beach", and "The Spirit of the Game." He is married to actress Sam Jenkins, whom he met during her guest appearance on Hercules in 1998. They have three children together, Braeden, Shane and Octavia.
