Singer/Songwriter Michael Sarver was born and raised in Louisiana on a steady diet of live church music. A prolific songwriter, he began composing at the age of 14 and to date has written over 1000 songs. As he honed his writing skills, he carefully studied gifted artists whom he feels are exceptionally talented at writing well crafted, awe-inspiring songs. Two such artists that influenced him are Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael Jackson. While he sings country music, he groomed his vocal skills by studying the techniques of great singers from many genres including Michael English, Frank Sinatra, and other vocally strong artists. Perhaps his biggest influence as an overall entertainer is Garth Brooks.
Michael is an American Idol alumnus from Season 8, arguably the most competitive season in the history of the show. Known as the singing oil rig roughneck, he finished in the top ten along with fellow popular contestants Adam Lambert, Kris Allen , Danny Gokey, Allison Iraheta, and Anoop Desai. Following the show he was excited to join the American Idol Tour hitting arenas in 52 cities in North America.
The opportunities which arose from the American Idol experience were life changing for Michael. He enjoyed the opportunity to perform in front of millions of people as he got the chance to see the country and the world. When the whirlwind finally slowed down he took some time to do some soul searching about what he wanted the future of his career to look like. While he was taking some time off from touring, he continued to write songs, the result of which is his new album “Begin Again.”
Released in 2014, his first single, “Miss You Something Crazy” received world-wide, radio success, including reaching number 7 on the UK HotDisc chart. The full-length album had a limited digital release in June of 2015 with a full physical release in November 2015. The album is nearly all self-penned with 11 of the 12 cuts written by Michael. The second single is scheduled to be “Place I Call Home,” a nostalgic tune which all listeners can relate to about the importance and love for the place they consider home.
With the new album and a fresh new outlook on his career, Michael Sarver is ready to “Begin Again!”
